African Swine Fever (ASF) continues to pose a significant threat to the Philippine swine industry, affecting animal health, livelihoods, and food security. While vaccination may serve as a complementary tool in ASF prevention and control, post-vaccination monitoring is essential to assess vaccine safety, field performance, and effectiveness under actual field conditions.
With the commercialization of ASF vaccine, the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Animal Industry, drafted the โGuidelines on the Implementation of Post-Vaccination Monitoring of ASFโ, to establish a national framework for coordinated post-vaccination monitoring, supported by laboratory and genomic surveillance.
The draft guidelines take into consideration the relevant standards and recommendations of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), particularly the ASF Vaccine Standard and the Guidelines for ASF Vaccines: Field Evaluation and Post-Vaccination Monitoring.
